— remember that show i always talk about

Some people are obsessed with music or sports, film or food. I’m obsessed with Tv, good tv. And I’m always watching a new show or an old one and I love talking to you guys all about it So here’s a list of all the shows I love, need too catch up on and need to check out!

Shows I Love

The Fades- What a cool idea for a show. British tv these days is willing to take risks that we just won’t take over here which really makes me sad but that’s what the internet’s for. The Fades follows the 17 year old Paul who finds out he can see ghosts because he’s a creature known as an Angelic tasked with keeping balance between the dead roaming earth and the living. But it’s become more complicated with more and more dead unable to passion, and Paul may be the only one who can set things right… or end up making it worse.

Skins- UK of course I literally watched the first 3 min of the USA version and nearly pissed my self laughing so hard. I stuck with Skins though seasons 3& 4 though I very much wish I hadn’t but I’m glad I did because really enjoy the 3rd gen!

Shows I Need To Catch Up On

Parks And Recreation- I’ve only watched maybe 3 episodes so far but the Tumblr love for this show is too much to ignore.

The Office- Once Pam and Jim got married and popped a cutie out the oven I kind of lost interest but with guest stars like Catherine Tate and others I may have to give it another try.

Lost- I jumped out of this plane wreck about the same time we realized it wasn’t Penny’s Boat, and believe me it was like cutting off my arm…my arm that had begun to grow mutinous and had tried to kill me with confusion, smoke monsters and crazy ghost people… I need to finish this so that it might rest in peace.

Star Trek TNG- I made my sister watch the whole first season  dvd one weekend and then kind of lost steam but I’m always in a Trekie kind of mood.

Shows I Want To Watch

Breaking Bad- I’m not 100% I’ll love this smash hit show but I’ve been told to watch it or else

Arrested Development- I know shame on me for not already loving this. I’m a horrible person.

A Bit of Fry and Laurie- Their bromance transcends all and I need it in my life.

Now I Met Your Mother- I used to watch whatever rerun came on before M.A.S.H. yeah I’m that lame so what? I just need to break down and admit how awesome NPH is.

Upstairs Downstairs- I don’t know much about it but I know Keeley Hawes stars in it and it’s a period piece. Really that’s all I need to know.

Shows That Have Gone On To A Much Better Place

Battlestar Galactica- Ron Moore’s revisioning of this 70’s space opera is the epitome of perfect television. It’s one of the most beautiful human stories to be told in the medium and I’d recommend it to anyone who breaths. Cylon or human I’d recommend watching this epic story for all it’s worth.

Life On Mars- Another example of how much better at everything the British are then us. Perfect cast, perfect story, perfect balance of everything. Come on how can you not fall for the Gene Genie?

Ashes to Ashes- I thought I’d left behind the best the Brits had to offer when LOM came to it’s perfect end but I was wrong.  AtA takes everything right with LOM and makes it better with shoulder pads acid washed jeans and Adam Ant. And the Gov. Always the Gov.

Dollhouse- JOSS

Buffy- WHEDON

Angel- IS A

Firefly- PERFECT BEING

Pushing Daisies- This show was like a million Jean-Pierre Jeunet films covered in sugar and backed until golden brown. I loved this fanciful story of a pie maker and his … unique abilities but sadly it wasn’t meant to be.

Chuck- What a beautiful end to a really fun and endearing show! I still watch Chara vids on youtube from time to time because that show was just so perfect.

Star Trek: DS9- Ok almost every Trekie is going to tell you that the best Star Trek is either The Original Series or TNG…but as a contrarian I say no. The best Trek for me is a tossup between this gem here and the next show on our list, more on that in a moment. Unlike TOS and TNG DS9 did something no other Trek had tried: they laid anchor. DS9 takes place almost exclusively on a space station on the farthest edge of Federation space. It’s a great classic Trek story none the less made even more epic by a horrible war for the Federation and best of all the series wasn’t afraid to show the darkness borne of desperate men.

Star Trek: Voyager- So we’ve had 2 scientific explorers going where no man’s gone before, a space station in the heart of a devastating war…what else is ther? How about a band of castaways? The thing that made the Voyager plot line so compelling was there were never any quick fixes. You couldn’t pop back to earth or some familiar planet to fix the warp core or get some new dilithium crystals the crew of Voyager became a family and faces some really dark times.

Star Trek: Enterprise- Yeah…I watched the not so stellar prequel to the Trek series…I’m not really proud of it but hey there was a hot Vulcan so…

Dark Angel- DA is a testament to the importance and cruelty of timing. A really great cyber punk esq show about a not so distance future where electronics are scarce and transgenic humans are secretly among us. Staring a young Jessica Alba, Michael Weatherby and in later seasons JENSON ACKLES (YESSSS) The show was actually really fun. Transgenic super soldiers raised from birth to follow orders break free and use their unique skills to survive in a less then familiar world our main character Max spends the first season cat-burglering and generally being awesome and fun until she realizes how many of her brothers and sisters are still locked up. Season 2 is a little more…weird and dark really dark but that’s where timing comes in. DA started in 2000, season 2 began in 2001 and no one really wanted to watch a dystopic sci-fi show in late 2001…

The 4400- A show about people suddenly sprouting superpowers secretly destined to save the world…sound familiar? NO IT’S NOT HEROS, though it didn’t get canceled just about the time Heroes began on a much bigger net work (I’m still a little miffed about that) granted there are plenty of differences between the shows. The 4400 is about 4400 people abducted throughout the past 80 years from all over the world who all suddenly reappear un touched by time with super powers some wonderful, some terrifying. The main plot revolve around two agents who suddenly find themselves heading up a new division of the US government tasked with regulating and investigating these 4400 people and their impossible abilities. Think a pre Fringe but with less alternates. As I said the show died a premature death at the hands of low ratings even though it had a rabid fan base and an intense plot that many (ME) don’t feel got the ending it deserved.

Carnivale- Carnivale’s still kind of a new show for me I’ve only just finished it and I still haven’t a clue what the hell it was about…maybe someday someone can explain it?

Rome- I don’t even know what to say about HBO’s Rome it was… the ultimate period piece. I mean for a girl that was so obsessed with the Romans she actually took Latin in HS the chance to see one of the most famous stories played out from the Roman point of view was awesome. The detail in the costumes and sets were stunning and ultimately the show’s undoing, or rather overzealous HBO executives who ended the show going as far as to tear down sets before they got the full season 1 ratimgs but by that time it was too late and all that could be done was to air the already filmed season 2. Since then we’ve heard whispers of a movie to wrap up loose ends from Rome alums like Kevin McKidd but it looks less and less likely.
